Description: Imperial Airways/West Australian Airways,first British acceptance of reduced airmail PC's for LONDON TO AUSTRALIA, bs 9/9, flown by air from London to Karachi and from Adelaide to Perth. PC franked 4d ( correctly rated for the new PC air mail rate). Flown on IAW eastbound service IE177 by Horatius & Hengist to Brindisi, Satyrus to Cairo and Hannibal to Karachi. This service carried the first dispatch of PC's from GB to Egypt, India, Iraq, Palestine, Persia and Australia at the new reduced air mail rate.
