Description: First acceptance of mail for Madagascar, Sydney to Quelimane, via Cairo 22/12 and Ambulancia/Beira-Umtali/27/12, carried on the first regular Imperial Airways/Qantas Australia-England service to Broken Hill, then by La Service de la Navigation Aerienne de Madagascar to Quelimane, souvenir blue/light grey 'Kangaroo' company cover, franked 1/6d x2 and 2d, canc 'Sydney/12 Dec/Air Mail' cds. Carried from Cairo to Broken Hill on IAW flight ASS 199, This service carried mail for Africa flown on Imperial Airways first return Brisbane-Singapore extension of the Eastern route.
