Description: Air Survey Co Rangoon, first airmail, Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, bs 2pm 23/8, arrived Port Swettenham 11.15am, then taken by train to Kuala Lumpur arriving 2.30pm, plain cover correctly rated 4c, special black straight line "By Air Mail" cachet and ms "By Air Mail". Carried by Neville Vincent, who arrived in Singapore immediately following the completion of his government. sponsored aerial survey in Sarawak. The GPO in Singapore took advantage of his arrival to hastily arrange a first dispatch by air of mail to Kuala Lumpur (via Port Swettenham). As a result the flight had the minimum of publicity resulting in only a very small mail being carried. A scarce and historical specimen in fine condition. An explanatory 500 word article accompanies this item.
