Description: France to Madagascar, AGEN to TAMATAVE, by the Imperial Airways Africa southbound service AS174 which left Paris 27/7 and was carried by train to Brindisi 29/7 via Marseille Gare Avion bs 27/6 then flown by Hadrian and then Amalthea to Broken Hill bs 4/7 where it was offloaded. But the local link to Madagascar had not started, so it was carried by surface to Salisbury bs 8/78 July and on to Durban bs 14/7. Finally on by sea, arriving Tamatave bs 26/7. Imprint etiquette cover, also green blue/black etiquette tied by Salisbury cds, FRANKED F2.50 for 50c Colonial and a F2 air fee. (by air to Egypt only!). An exceptionally scarce item with superb routing marks. An absolute gem, ex the Ted Proud collection.
