Description: Accelerated service, South Africa to Kenya, DURBAN to NAIROBI, by Imperial Airways Africa Northbound service flight AN135 leaving 3 October on Amalthea arriving Nairobi 6 October (b/s). First service accelerated to Cairo in order to make faster connection with Eastbound services to India and Burma (ref Wingent p 50. Franked 6d for air rate. Service diverted from Croydon to Lympne due to fog Cover datestamped Mpwapwa, 31 October 1933, backstamped Dodoma 2 Nov. Sent by road to Gulwe, then by train to Dodoma to connect with I.A. service AN 139, which departed 4th and arrived Paris to schedule on 11th. HP42 Heracles departed Paris at 09.42 the same day but due to dense fog over London, was diverted to land at Lympne airfield, Kent, arriving at 12.03. Because the Post Office van had to drive an additional 60 miles in bad conditons to deliver the mail from the airfield to London Foreign Section at King Edward Building (G.P.O. Headquarters) it must have arrived later than usual. ,
