Description: Czechoslovakia to Sudan, BRATISLAVA TO UM RUABA VIA KHARTOUM AND HASSA HEISA. Sent by train to Athens because there were no winter air services, arriving Athens Airport 15/12 cds. Missed the AS198 which had departed Athens on 14/121934, so caught AS199 which departed 22/12 arriving Khartoum 23/12 cds and sent on by train to Hassa Heissa, its original destination, where it arrived next day bs 24/12. There it was re-addressed and sent c400 miles by train to Um Ruaba where an **Dec 34 arrival ds was applied. Plain airmail etiquette cover, ms 'Flugpost', violet framed 'Lotecka posta' hs RATED 5k50. The ordinary surface postage was 2.50K for first 20 gr. and Proud gives an air mail rate to Sudan of 2.50K per 10 gr. So it may be 50c overpaid. A scarce journey with superb routing.
