Covers with flight, route, and postage details (ex Proud archives) supplemented with data from Wingent's monographs on IAW Aircraft Movements 1927-1939.Description: Tanganyika to Germany, OLDEANI to DRESDEN. By road to Mombasa (160 miles) via Arusha bs 19/7 and Moshi bs 21/7 where it transferred to Imperial Airways Durban northbound flying boat service DN111 (Caledonia) which left Mombasa 23/7. At Khartoum Ceres took over from Caledonia at Khartoum 25/5, but met with an accident at Wadi Halfa on 24/7 when she collided with a floating dock. Load transferred to Caledonia which then operated as a relief and flew on to Athens arriving 26/7 one day late. Transferred to DLH Athens-Berlin service arriving Dresden 26/7. Registered (label) printed commercial cover franked S1.05 for 30c registration and 75c air rate. Superb item, ex Ted Proud collection.
