Description: First acceptance of mail for Africa, Kew to Moshi, Tanganyika, via Cairo 22/12, carried on first regular Imperial Airways/Qantas Australia-England service, souvenir blue/light grey 'Kangaroo' company cover, franked 1/6d and 9d (SG 152 Cat £45 used), canc 'Kew/7 Dec/Vic' cds. Carried from Cairo to Moshi on IAW flight ASS 199, This service carried mail for Africa flown on Imperial Airways first return Brisbane-Singapore extension of the Eastern route. See Wingent p65. Only 463 items were flown from Australia to all points other than London, viz to the Far East, Middle East, the Med, Europe and Africa.
