Description: 'The Thurso Air Mail Mystery'. An acceptance of mail fromThurso for the accelerated service to Wick by train or omnibus then OAT by the mail carrying planes of Highland Airways. Thurso 23/11 to Kirkwall 24/11 via Wick, posted in Thurso on 23/11, then carried from Wick to Kirkwall 24/12 on the same day that Allied Airways flew the first mail from Aberdeen to Sumbrugh airport in the Shetlands, Although the Allied AW plane called at Thurso, no mail was collected because of the existing contract between the PO and Highland AW.
