Description: DELAYED/INTERRUPTED WWII censored airmail, Egypt to Italy, ALEXANDRIA to REVERE. By Imperial Airways Africa Kisumu North Service KN124 which left Alex 12/11on FLYING BOAT 'CERES' and arrived Marseilles 16/11, then by train to Paris bs 18/11. CERES FIRST DEPARTED. ALEX. 06.15 ON 11TH BUT HAD TO RETURN AT 10.15 DUE TO BAD WEATHER. (Wingent pers comm). Printed commercial cover Egyptian censor tape and mark, franked 30 mils for 20 mils UPU plus 10 mils air fee. The KISUMU SERVICE was set up to carry mail under the E.A.M.S. from East Africa and the Sudan, see Wingent p125.
