Description: Imperial Airways first flight London to India, bs Bombay GPO 9/4, airmail etiquette cover franked 7 1/2d The route taken is of interest showing the lack of cooperation by the Italian authorities who declined to allow flights over their territories by way of France or Switzerland. An airliner carried the mail to Basle, from there it was taken by train overnight to Genoa, then by flying boat to plane to Alexandria via Rome, Naples, Corfu, Athens, Crete and Tobruk. and from there it was flown on the city of Jerusalem to Karachi.
