Description: WWII precursor, Sydney to New York, sent to USA via the Empire Route to London and and onward transmission across Atlantic by sea, imprint etiquette airmail cover franked 1/7d (overpaid by 1d), canc Air Mail/Sydney/39MY38, etiquette cancelled by red double bar Jusqu'a applied in London to terminate carriage by air. Flown all the way by Short C Class S.30 flying boats, to Singapore by Qantas, and on to London by Imperial Airways. An interesting item, Australian airmail to USA of this period usually went by the Pan Am Trans Pacific route. Some rough opening at top, hardly detracts, see scan.
