Description: Reopening of Lands Downe Air Field, airmail cover franked 5c canc Youngstown cds, and on to Detroit 8/9, fine strike circular magenta commemorative cachet, signed by Clifford Ball. The airport was dedicated as Lansds Downe Field in late October 1926 and was named after Lieutenant Commander Zachary Lansds Downe commander of the US Navy airship USS Shenandoah. It was the first airport in Youngstown and the first in the region to see airmail service.
