Plain etiquette cover, black framed 'Saigon - Marseille' with dotted line below directional hs applied by the Le Bureau de Hanoi to all Tonkin letters transiting through Saigon, used from early 1931 to early 1934. RATED 36c for 6c ordinary plus 30c air fee. Rear flap has been removed neatly.

Description: SAIGON TO PARIS by weekly Air Orient flight arriving Marseille 30/4 (bs), grey/blue edged 'Via Air Orient' cover, black framed 'Saigon-Marseille' directional hs affixed by Le Bureau Central de Saigon, also a round red 'Controle/Avion' handstamp applied by the Bureau de Saigon between 1931-34. Control marks affixed on the Indochinese mail testified the correct franking for airmail letters. DOUBLE RATED 66c for 2x 30c air fee and 6c ordinary. .

Saar was a region of Germany occupied and governed by the United Kingdom and France from 1920 to 1935 under a League of Nations mandate. Scarce item in fine condition
