(Egypt) RAF test flight from Abu Suwer to Khartoum, 11 Jan 1926 arrival hs on front, signed by the commanding officer V.C.Stonar, plain cover, franked Egypt 5ml, violet two line "Special Flight/Cairo to Khartoum" hs. This flight was undertaken by RAF Squadron No. 47 as a test of the Fairey IIID aircraft equipped with the Napier Lion engine, and as a prelude to the Cairo-Cape Town flight planned for later in the year. Little is known about this flight, and only 70 covers were carried. A 200 word account by Bill Coley can be found in  Air Mail News, No 158, p129.
