It is published in our new web site format where you can bid online and where the great majority of lots are illustrated, front and back. Each lot can be viewed in thumbnail, life size, and super size format, so that all postal markings can be inspected carefully before bidding.

Lot 271 GB External 1927,May 20 Cranwell to Bandar Abbas, attempted non stop flight from UK-India by RAF pilots Carr (later Air Marshall Sir Roderick Carr) and Gillman. Cover addressed to Capt. P J James, MC, RASC Mess, Chaklala Cantonement, Rawalpindi, Punjab, India, franked 1 1/2d canc 'Cranwell 20 My 27' cds and Iraq 3a with 'Magil (Basra) 27 May 27' transit dr cds, verso 'Chaklala ../4 Jun 27/12.45pm' arrival cds, tying a label with typewritten text "Carried by Flt. Lts. Carr/and Gillman in Horsely/aeroplane forced landed in/sea Bundar Abbas 21.5.27". Posted in Magil (Basra, 500 mile N. Bandar Abbas) and forwarded by surface to Chaklala. In very fine condition, and one of only three letters carried. Described by Newall as "one of the rarest of British airmail covers". His example, which is Illustrated on colour plate 13 of his handbook, was sold for £2690 (including commission) by Harmers of London in May 1997. £1,650.00

Lot 65 Australia 1947, Jan 21 Duke of Gloucester's return flight to England, plain cover franked 6d, canc 'RAAF PO Darwin/19 Jan 1947', typed "H.R.H. The Governor General's flight/per Avro York Endeavour MW140/Australia-England Flight", black framed "RAAF/Concessionary Postal Rates" hs, signed by seven members of the crew. £145.00
Lot 110 Belgium 1935, Oct 6 Count De Looz-Corswarem, Mahieu and D'Hoore official flight to the Congo via the shortest route over the Libyan desert via Tunis-Sebha-Fort Lamy, Brussels to Leopoldville and return, by air in both directions, Van Reet pictorial card franked Belgium 1F canc Brussels 1/10 and Belgium 70c to obtain ultimate arrival mark (last dat Brussels Expo cancellation) and 1.50 Congo stamp canc Leopoldville 22/10, also Stanleyville 24/10 postmark verso, black "Raid Mahieu" cachets x2, signed by Count De Looz-Corswarem under a handwritten comment on the deferred departure from Brussels. Rare, only ten such items were carried. £250.00
Lot 264 Gambia 1934, Feb 24 Early acceptance of mail for Germany, Bathurst to Elbe, no arrival ds, airmail etiquette cover franked Gambia KGV 1/2d, 1 1/2d, 2d, 3d and 6d, canc Bathurst cds, typed "Per D.L.H.". Picked up at Bathurst on DLH flight L4 for onward transmission to Stuttgart on the DLH South Atlantic Airmail Service. £75.00
