Description: Amsterdam to Soerbaja, bs 23/12. The "Postjager", piloted by Lieut. DL. Asles, departed Schipol on the morning of 9 December 1933, for a quick 4 1/2 day flight to the Netherlands Indies.A landing was made at Rome but shortly after take off oil pressure trouble obliged the plane to make a forced landing at Grottaglie. The mail was taken to Brindisi where it was picked up and taken to Cairo by the southern bound Imperial Airways flight bound for the Cape. From Cairo the mail was transferred to K.L.M. 5 "lsvogel" and flown to Jodhpur where it was transferred to the Pelikaan for the final leg to Bandoeng. Airmail cover, franked 30c Netherland and NEI triangular stamps, red 'Postjager' flight cachet.
