Description: War Weapons Week 1941, after the British retreat from Europe, via Dunkirk, the British Army was severely under strength. With her Army’s equipment and arms left in Europe and also fighting the Germans and Italians in Africa there was a dire need to re-equip to resist the German’s imminent invasion. A collection of 10 items including eight British leaflets dropped over the British Isles during WWII to help with the war effort encouraging investment in National Savings Certificates, Savings Stamps and Defence Bonds, and stressing the importance of saving wastepaper; a parody of a German leaflet originating in Luton denouncing the importance of saving for the war effort; and two illustrated newspaper cuttings about War Weapons Week in Bournemouth, 15 Feb 1941. All leaves and stamps are fine. Image.
