Mittelholzer Africa flight, Zurich to Dima, via Alexandria 11/12, Kasenyi 9/1, Irumu 10/1 and Stanleyville 27/1, plain cover addressed to a manager at the Compagnie du Kasai, Congo Head Office, Dima (Kasai), franked 30c + 75c Icarus, black boxed Afrikaflug cachet. Flown to Naples, then steamer to Mombassa via Alexandria, rail/road to Butiaba on Lake Albert, lake steamer to Kasenyi, road to Irumu and Stanleyville, then likely Congo river to Kwamouth and up the Kasai to Dima. Ex Clowes. The only Mittelholzer cover addressed to Congo ever seen by him.

Carried all the way from Rio de Janeiro to Rome by LATI, thus avoiding the British censorship on the Pan Am North Atlantic service. No Swiss censor because Switzerland did not censor incoming or outgoing mail during WWII, and no German censor because mail from Italy entered Switzerland via Chiasso and did not pass through Germany (see Boyle). One of only 13 covers from Brazil to Switzerland observed in a review of 223 eastbound LATI dispatches.

Signed by the Swiss pilot Edmond Audemars (1882-1970) who participated in the New-York Belmont park meeting in October 1910, and flew over several US including some flights over Mexico and Cuba. He was the close friend of Roland Garros and stopped to flying when Garros died in 1918.
