(South Africa) Very rare Red Cross used special card prepared during the South African Red Cross Our Day' fund raising campaign, illustrated with a soldier's face over a Red Cross, franked 1d. and "Our Day" label" - both tied by Observatory Road/14.Dec.1918 cds. Intended for sending Christmas Greetings to coincide with the Christmas Flight which took place on December 23, 1918. Unfortunately this, the first Christmas aerial post in South Africa, was not well supported and so precious few have survived. Hanno Reisener, author of "Special Postmarks and covers of South Africa" gives it a scarcity rating of "RRR" and says he has never seen one "in the
flesh" and Arrow, author of 'South African Airmails' 2013, says they are very scarce, particularly in used condition, and that he too has never seen one.
