Newfoundland" hand stamp along the top edge. Hitherto the only RAFFC covers seen from Newfoundland (Gander) have been from WAAF Monica Swinburne to her mother in West Hartlepool. (Newfoundland) Superb WWII dual censored cover, Newfoundland to Australia, airmail cover franked $1.26 canc St. John's cds and 'Newfoundland/10 Jul/1943/Air Mail' cds sealed Newfoundland DC/22 censor label (used from April 1942 to April 1945) and Australia red/white civilian OBC 3 state of VIctoria censor tape, also violet diamond Victoria censor hand stamp. At this time there was no service across the Pacific. The most likely route being down to Miami, then Pan Am south Atlantic service to West Africa, then across the Sahara to Khartoum to joint the Horseshoe service which, in 1943, went only as far as Calcutta, from where it was sent to Australia by sea.
