Although Peruvian Airways had already become part of PANAGRA on January 25, 1929, the first mail flight from Cristobal to Mollendo (Peru) did not take place until May 17. In the meanwhile PANAGRA carried out various mail flights within the planned FAM route - this particujlar item being the first mail carrying flight from Ecuador to Peru under the FAM 9 contract. This cover is very scarce. The flight on which it was carried is, thus far, unrecorded in the literature.
