(Colombia) Scadta "Consular" one cover system, New York to Bogota, bs 12/10, via Barranquilla, 10/10 transit cds front and verso, printed 'South American Newspapers' corner cover franked, in New York, with a 30c Scadta "EU" opt and US 2c (to cover national postage in Colombia), 10/10 blue/green circular Scadta receiver, black framed Scadta cachet verso. Non invasive vertical crease. A nice example of the Scadta 'one cover' system whereby the sender used a single envelope which had to include the appropriate national surface rate. This saved Scadta time and money since they no longer had to affix a national stamp.

(Colombia) REVISED DESCRIPTION : Uraba - Medellin and Central Airways (URABA), Medellin to Turbo, black circular ‘Correo Aereo/3 Jul 1933/Turbo’ arrival cds on front, long cover ,1cm non invasive closed top edge tear, signed by pilots W.J.Doxey and W.W.Lynch, unfranked but bears fine strike oval "Admon Ppal de Correos Nales/Medellin/Jul 1 1933/Republica de Colombia" dated hand stamp front and back. Because it is an internal official cover from the Postal Administration in Medellin and addressed to the Mayor of Turbo, no postage was necessary and the usual red oval flight cachet was not applied . It will likely have contained an official greeting to the Mayor on the inauguration of this particular flight. The actual Medellin-Turbo F/F took place on July 3rd. This cover was prepared on 1 July, but was flown on 3rd July together with the ‘ordinary’ franked and cacheted F/F covers for this flight. UMCA was a legal creation of Pan Am to prevent SCADTA approaching the Panama Canal. UMCA never owned any planes of its own or had any distinctive markings (REG Davies, Airlines of Latin America, p230).
